• New Coronavirus guidelines from the Health Ministry forbid anyone who arrived from abroad (any country that is not included in more specific quarantine rules) in the past 14 days to attend gatherings of more than 100 people. Please do not attend Mincha/Maariv on Friday night and at the end of Shabbat. To participate in the main Tefillot (not the kiddush!) on Shabbat and Purim, the shul has the following options available:
  Shabbat morning Hashkama minyan seating will be changed as follows:
  1.      The balcony will be open for women.
  2.   Men who recently returned from abroad (not quarantined), will be asked to sit in downstairs 'women's' section (mechitzah will be open). 
  Purim- We are adding two small (less than 100 people) minyanim:
  1.    Monday evening in YHD Library - Maariv 18:00, Megillah 18:10 
  2.    Tuesday morning in YHD Beit Midresh – Shaharit 7:00
  3.    In addition, Purim evening (Monday) 20:00 minyan, and Purim morning (Tuesday) 10:30 Megillah readings are generally not crowded.
  We appreciate everyone's understanding and remind anyone under quarantine, and/or exhibiting any symptoms of illness to stay home, and read Parashat Zakhor from a Chumash. They should be particular to listen to it again when it is read from the Torah in parshat Ki Teitze.
  Those over the age of 60 or with pre-existing health conditions should exercise extra caution and avoid crowded places. Everyone should wash their hands frequently.
• משרד הבריאות הודיע שחל איסור השתתפות בהתכנסויות מעל 100 איש לאנשים שחזרו מכל יעד בחו״ל ב-14 הימים האחרונים ושאינם בבידוד. לפיכך, כל מי שנמצא בתוך 14 ימים מחזרתו מכל מדינה שהיא, מתבקש לא להגיע לתפילות קבלת שבת ושבת מנחה. במניין המוקדם בשבת בבוקר ניתן לבוא ויהיו סידורי ישיבה מיוחדים. בפורים, ניתן להגיע למנינים הקטנים כמפורט באנגלית. מומלץ לבני 60 ומעלה ולבעלי מחלות רקע כרוניות להימנע מהתקהלויות וממגע עם אנשים ששבו מכל יעד בחו״ל, או בעלי תסמינים או אנשים החשודים כחולים.

Purim and beyond:

• 😻Purim at Berman😻 Taanit Esther 13th Adar, Monday, March 9th. Mincha 17:10, Maariv 18:00, Megilla reading 18:10. Maariv followed by "quiet" Megilla reading in the Beit Midrash, also at 18:00/18:10. Please bring your own siddurim/megillot. After the main megillah reading (around 19:00), join us for the second annual shul break-fast with live music. Late evening reading at 20:00. Purim morning - Shacharit and Megilla - 7:00; Women's reading (women only) - 9:15; General reading (men reading for men and women) - 10:30.
• פורים בברמן. תענית אסתר (יום ב' ה9 במרץ) מנחה ב17:10. מעריב ב18:00 וקריאת מגילה ב18:10. כל הקהילה מוזמנת. קריאת מגילה 'שקטה' בבית מדרש: מעריב 18:00 ומגילה ב18:10. נא להביא סידורים ומגילות. אחרי קריאת מגילה (בערך בשעה 19:00) יתקיים כיבוד לשבור את הצום עם מוסיקה והפתעות. בבוקר: שחרית + מגילה 7:00, קריאת נשים 9:15, קריאה כללית 10:30.
• Pre-Purim lecture given by Professor Michelle J. Levin. Associate Professor of Bible, Stern College. She will speak in English about "From Miracle to Miracle: Purim - the Gateway to Pesach". Sunday Evening, March 8th. Ma’ariv: 19:50, Lecture 20:00.
• **NEXT WEEK** Presenting the Second annual Berman Shul cholent cook-off. Sample the best cholents from our home grown talent and vote on your favorites. Offerings will include classic Eastern European, Sephardi, GF, and vegetarian. When: Kiddush after shul on March 14th (Parashat Parah). • Annual megillah reading for the general public at Havayyot Schweitz (52 Sireni, corner of Miller) on Purim night at 18:00, sponsored by Psifas and Bermans. • בליל פורים (9.3) תתקיים קריאת מגילת אסתר השנתית לקהל הרחב בחוויות שוויץ בשעה 18:00 (52 סירני, פינת מילר) בחסות פסיפס וברמן. קריאת מגילת אסתר של נשים לנשים לזכרה של חיה טנור ז"ל, שנה שלישית. ליל פורים (9.3) בשעת 19:45 גם בחוויות שווייץ. בחסות פסיפס וברמן. נשים מוזמנות להצטרף בשמחה!
• New Daf Yomi shiur. We are pleased to announce the resumption of a regular Daf Yomi Shiur (in English) every weekday morning following the morning Minyan (Davening at 6:15 AM, Mon and Thurs at 6:10 AM; Shiur at approx. 6:45). The Shiur will be given by Charles Hexter and Yisrael Levitt. The Shiur will begin with Masechet Shabbat, on Sunday Morning March 8th. The shul has limited copies, so kindly bring your own Gemara.
• Volunteers needed to give Divrei Torah for parshiot in Sefer Vayikra. Reserve now, while a wide choice of parshiot still remains. Please contact Mechael Kanovsky.
• מי שמעוניין לתת דבר תורה על פרשה בספר ויקרא מתבקש לפנות למיכאל קנובסקי. שריינו מקומות כבר עכשיו, כל עוד נשאר מבחר רחב של פרשיות.
• Torah readers needed for many parshiot. To volunteer, please contact Shmulie Pineles for the main minyan, or Moshe Appel for the Hashkama minyan. Volunteers through high school age are paid by the shul for their efforts.
