Bereavement and Memorial:

  • We regret to announce the passing of Sara Spotts z"l, the mother of our member Shua Spotts. The funeral took place on Tuesday, November 8in Atlanta, Georgia. Shua can be reached on WhatsApp at +972-54-957-3119, or at +1-404-329-9359, until 9:30 PM. Please remember the 7-hour time difference. Shua will return to Israel late Sunday night. There will be a Shacharit Shiva minyan on Monday morning, November 14, at Shimoni 7/3 at 7:00 am. To ensure a minyan, please sign up at http://www.bermanshul.org/shiva if you can attend. Shua gets up from Shiva after Shacharit on Monday November 14. He will be receiving guests at his home after shiva has concluded, on Monday, November 14th, from 9:00-11:30 am and 7:00-10:00 pm, and on Tuesday, November 15th, from 7:00-10:00 pm. המקום ינחם אותו בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS​​

  • Combined Elul/Tishrei/Heshvan Jointly Sponsored Yahrtzeit Kiddush. The Elul 5776, Tishrei 5777, and Chesvan 5777 JSK will be held on Nov 19th Parashat Vayera. To participate in the kiddush, please contact Judd Bogdansky no later than this Sunday November 13th, 2016. Participation: 150 NIS per person.
  • קידוש משותף ליארצייט אלול תשרי וחשבן. הקידוש המשותף לציון יארצייטים של חודשים אלול תשרי וחשון יתקיים בשבת פרשת וירא (19 בנובמבר 2016). אם ברצונך להשתתף נא ליצור קשר עם ג'וד בוגדנסקי לא יאוחר מיום ראשון, 13 בנובמבר. השתתפות: 150 ש'ח לכל שם.
  • Our annual "MIX IT UP!" Shabbatot  - The Berman Community has been blessed with many new families in the last several years. To help the veteran members (“vatikim”) and newcomers get to know each other, we are planning two consecutive special Shabbatot. On Shabbat Toldot (Dec. 3), we will be pairing new families with vatikim for Shabbat lunch. Newcomers who are interested in being invited and vatikim who are interested in hosting (or vice versa) please email hospitality@bermanshul.org. We will attempt to match families by neighborhood, occupation and/or country/city of origin. The following Shabbat (Dec. 10), Shabbat Vayeitzai, the Kiddush will be sponsored by the shul in honor of our new members. On that Shabbat, we are also planning to have name tags prepared for all members, which you may optionally affix to your clothing upon exiting to the kiddush. Non-Berman members are invited to receive a name tag by registering here. We are looking for volunteers to help with the preparations for the two Shabbatot.   • קהילתו התברכה בשנים האחרונות בהרבה משפחות חדשות. כדי לעזור לוותיקים וחדשים להכיר אחד את השני אנו מתכננים שני אירועים בשתי שבתות ברצף. בשבת תולדות (3.12) אנו מזווגים משפחות חדשות עם וותיקים לארוחת שבת. משפחות חדשות שמעוניינות להתארח ומשפחות וותיקות שמעוניינות לארח (או להיפך) נא לשלוח מייל ל-hospitality@bermanshul.org. ננסה לזווג משפחות לפי שכונה, מקצוע ו/או ארץ ועיר מולדת. בשבת אחרי זה, שבת ויצא (10.12) הקידוש יהיה בחסות בית הכנסת לכבוד החברים החדשים. באותה שבת יחלקו תגיות עם שמות חברי בית הכנסת שניתן יהיה להדביק על  הבגד. מי שאינו חבר בית הכנסת יכול לקבל תגית על ידי רישום פה

David is a RN, Home Health Care supervisor and Lynn was a senior center diirector. She also had a small music gig on the side (music appreciation, sings, piano, guitar) They both retired last month. Paul is retired and plans to learn Hebrew and enjoy being closer to the extended family. Sara works as  a People and Change Manager, Consultant and Entrepreneur. She will be attending Ulpan Etzion Jerusalem full time starting in January and then hopes to change careers and move into a different industry (she previously worked in the banking and postal industries in Australia and UK).
