SMS/Voice messaging system

(SMS stands for Short Messaging System, a text message system run by cellular operators)

The Berman community operates a combined voice and SMS message system for urgent bereavement notices. Members may choose one of the following options:

• SMS message(s) to cellular phones (wife, husband or both).
• A single voice message to the family's landline.

The messages are in general accompanied by a more-detailed e-mail message sent out on the Community Notice Board.  Settings for each member are indicated by asterisks suffixed to the telephone numbers in the Berman Members Directory: (Defined by and accessible to  registered members).

indicates that messages will be received by SMS.
The messages will be sent from a phone number belonging to our service provider.

indicates that Voice messages will be received

Since the message system costs the community for each SMS or voice message sent, members are encouraged to review their settings and cancel any unwanted subscriptions.
